The VBL is an in-office breast augmentation procedure that makes use of your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from your blood. After drawing blood from your arm, it is centrifuged to isolate PRP. Platelets and growth factors are then injected into the breasts to promote the growth of new tissue, blood vessels, and nerve endings. Results take three months to manifest, and they will continue to improve over the next year.
What is the difference between the actual procedures?
Breast lift or augmentation surgery requires an incision and, in most cases, extensive reconstruction. There may be significant discomfort and downtime following the procedure. The VBL, on the other hand, is a non-invasive procedure that requires no incision, no anesthesia, no damage to surrounding tissue or impact on other organs, and no downtime. You will feel tender after the VBL procedure, but you can resume normal activity. A week after treatment, we recommend wearing an underwire bra for added support.
What about pain medication and recovery time?
There is no need for general anesthesia with a VBL, nor is there a month-long recovery period as with the surgical option. For about a week, there may be some redness, swelling, and/or bruising, as well as tenderness. We use a topical numbing cream for the VBL and may inject with lidocaine. What kind of outcomes can you expect?
Increased volume and firmness, as well as visible improvements in skin tone, texture, and appearance. The VBL can also be used to lift, smooth, enhance cleavage, and add fullness to the skin. A surgical lift with implants results in a more dramatic outcome. This can be an overt change in the body at times. If you want a more natural result, VBL may be a better option for you.
How long does it take to complete the VBL procedure?
The entire procedure, including numbing, takes about 90 minutes, but this can vary depending on the patient. A surgical lift can take several hours, including recovery time, depending on the woman.
How long are breast lifts effective?
The VBL lift should last at least two years. Your body has created new tissue, so it will not diminish but create a normal baseline. The good news is that your VBL will improve for up to a year after the procedure as your body builds collagen.
Will I lose my sensitivity?
The VBL can actually improve sensitivity by producing new nerve endings and blood vessels, resulting in better circulation. Necrotic nipples are a potential side effect of surgical breast augmentation. This is when a patient loses sensation in the nipples, either partially or completely.
