Why are yoni steams (V Steam) so popular?

What is yoni steams (V Steam)?

Also known as a Yoni steam, vaginal steams are a popular homeopathic treatment with detoxifying and healing properties. With benefits like these, there’s no wonder why a holistic goddess like Gwyneth Paltrow, founder of GOOP, recommends them in her 2021 “Guide to live your best life.” Traditionally, the steam is infused with herbs that are known to have holistic properties and directed toward the vulva to promote circulation, reduce inflammation, and regulate bacterial growth.

So where does it come from?

The treatment is sacred to many ancient societies for its restorative benefits. Because the process provides comfort and soothes many ailments associated with menstrual cycles, menopause, and vaginal discomfort, it was thought to provide a wide array of benefits from spiritual protection to aiding in fertility. Today we know that some of the ancient claims aren’t scientifically backed but it still provides many natural benefits.

V steam in the media:

Influential celebrities rave about their steams and how much they love it. Paltrow jump started the trend in 2015 with a blog post on Goop. Since then, V-Steams have become a common spa treatment. One of Red table talk’s most influential episodes highlights V-Steams where hosts, Jada Pinkett, Willow Smith, and Gammy Norris, talk about how the treatment was about connecting with their intimate area. Chrissy Teigan has also surprised us with a hilarious self care day  instagram post of her sitting on a steam chair with a face mask on.

So, What is it like to get one?

My first V steam:

5 years ago, I tried my first V-Steam when a friend of mine convinced me to do one at a traditional bathhouse. We were in a room where other women were also steaming and overall, it was a good experience. The steam was hot and fragrant. A couple women, myself included, couldn’t handle the heat and were told to stand up and sit down to air out the steam. I didn’t even mind it being such a public experience for a private area. But, I wasn’t eager to do it again anytime soon.

V-Steam at VSPOT:

Honestly, it feels like heaven right after the aftermath of cramps and a heavy flow.  At Vspot, instead of sitting over a pot, like my first experience, I was lying down on a spa bed with a cozy robe on. The treatment lasted about 40 minutes and included steaming along with a brief lymphatic massage on the abdomen. It’s followed by LED light therapy to promote healing and purification. I was alone in the room and a steamer directed steam at my lady parts while I relaxed. The steamer uses ozone that reduces bacteria and a pelvic decongestant is added for even more benefits. The herb blend is basil, calendula, mugwort, marshmallow root, wormwood and rose petals… how romantic! The steam is the perfect temperature and smells amazing. During the massage, you can feel how much your abdomen needed it and I felt the alleviation immediately after. I’ve used LED light therapy for my face but never for down there! The red light is for cell recovery and faster healing while blue light is antibacterial and purifying. I do them monthly now and have another reason to look forward to my cycle ending. So thank you, Gwyneth! It’s a part of my regular routine and helps me live my best life.

4 Reasons you should ask your Best Friend… How’s Your Vagina?!

bodies go through so many changes as we age, it almost seems unfair that we can’t talk about it to everyone we meet so that everyone knows about our plight. VSPOT Experts aren’t telling you to share your intimate health status with every stranger you meet, but talk to your girlfriends about it. Here are 4 reasons why…

1. What you may think is abnormal is actually very common.

There is no reason to be anxious if this is your third time getting BV (bacterial vaginosis) this year. It’s not the topic you want to bring up while having brunch with your girlfriends, but have 3 mimosas and blurt it out. Chances are someone at the table is going through it too. You don’t have to freak out and think that this is happening to you alone.

2. You’ll be able to better identify what to see your doctor about.

As women, we know our body is always changing. Sometimes our cycles can be heavy and other times skip a whole month. If you’re chatting with your girlfriends about something you think is normal and happening to everybody and it’s only happening to you, that can be a signifier that you need to see your OB-GYN immediately.

3. You might miss out on groundbreaking treatments

You may feel you’re walking around with this big secret, like you feel like you’re going to pee every time you watch Friends reruns with your bestie. It may seem embarrassing and like something you’d definitely want to keep private. Meanwhile you have no idea your best friend is going through the same thing and is getting non-invasive treatment for it, using the BTL Emsella aka the Kegel Throne at VSPOT every Tuesday and Thursday. Urinary Incontinence can, and does happen to anyone.

4. Your best friend could have life changing recommendations.

If your best friend doesn’t know what you’re going through she can’t recommend great doctors. If you’re having consistent odors or terrible menopause symptoms and your current OB-GYN hasn’t had any solutions that work for you, tell your friend. VSPOT Expert Dr. Monica Grover gets new clients monthly because women aren’t getting the treatment they need from their current OB-GYN’s. While some doctors stick to the old tricks, she is constantly looking for new solutions to help each individual. Your current OB may not know that the treatments she is offering are even available.

5. Women need safe spaces!

VSPOT, a place that every woman who enters deems absolutely necessary, wouldn’t be able to exist if we weren’t talking to our best friends about our intimate health. Word of mouth goes a long way to support small businesses like VSPOT. If you came to VSPOT and your sex life has improved because of our trademark  O-SHOT+Feminine Serum combo… tell a friend. If sex used to be painful for you, and you came to VSPOT for a Femilift…tell your sister. If estrogen creams and lubes just weren’t cutting for your menopause symptoms and after BioTe Hormone Therapy and you finally feel like yourself again…toast to it at your next brunch.

Talking about our vaginas is how we make sure that the next generation never has to suffer in silence. So the next time you’re having a one on one with your bff turn to her and ask “How’s your vagina”?!  It could change your life forever.
